Triangular, circular and rectangles. There are so many different road signs.
Red triangles warn. Red circles tell you what you must not do. Rectangles inform. Blue circles: generally give a mandatory instruction. For example turn right. Blue rectangles: information signs except on motorways where blue is used for direction signs. Green rectangles: direction signs on primary routes White rectangles: direction signs on non-primary routes, or for plates used in combination with warning and regulatory signs
Exceptions to the shape and colour rules are 'Stop' and 'give way' signs.
